Condition Reporting
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a formal document that assesses the safety of a property's electrical installation. It's also known as a periodic inspection check, hard wire testing, or electrical safety certificate.
An EICR includes:
The results of the inspection and test
A list of observations requiring remedial work or further investigation
The date the next inspection and test is due
EICRs are mandatory for some buildings, such as rental properties and HMOs in England, Scotland, and Wales. Homeowners should also conduct an electrical safety check every 10 years. Landlords must renew their EICR every 5 years or when their tenancy changes.
